Lye is caustic. Wear gloves and goggles, add lye to water (never water to lye) and keep children and pets away. For other oils use a full lye calculator with a complete SAP table.
How this calculator works
NaOH needed = sum of (oil weight x NaOH SAP value) x (1 - superfat). SAP values used: olive 0.135, coconut 0.183, shea 0.128, castor 0.128. Water = total oils x water percentage.
